School children and business leaders got a valuable insight into the future of information and communication technology last week when an innovative roadshow came to South Wales.

CNS brings NOW Van to Wales The state-of-the-art Network on Wheels - the NOW Van programme -was brought to South Wales by Capital Network Solutions (CNS) from June 3rd to 6th.

The 27-foot vehicle was packed with the very latest in networking equipment developed by the acknowledged world leader in ICT, Cisco. It can accommodate up to 10 people at a time with a trained team demonstrating the cutting-edge equipment to visitors before letting them try it out themselves.

The NOW Van was based at the Business in Focus offices at Treforest Industrial Estate, Pontypridd on June 3rd, in Tondu Enterprise Centre at Bridgend on June 4th and at CNS's offices in the Vale of Glamorgan on June 6th.

And on June 5th CNS took it to Bryn Hafren School in Barry. CNS CNS hosts Cisco NOW Vaninstalled a state-of-the-art wireless network for Bryn Hafren in 2005 which has impacted on every aspect of school life, from beating truancy to encouraging healthy eating. Here, the team will demonstrate the latest technology to nearly 100 pupils in structured lessons, as well as staff and individuals from other schools and local authorities in Wales.

Sarah Edwards, Business Development Director at CNS, said: "Most people know that advances in technology can directly improve their efficiency and productivity but many businesses and organisations are too busy to find out what's available.

"The NOW Van is the easiest and most convenient way to discover how we'll all be using technology in the future - but the good news is these innovations are actually available right now.

"We'll have demonstrated them to key individuals from business and public sector organisations across South Wales - and also to children at Bryn Hafren School, who we've worked very closely with for several years. We thought it would give them a valuable and exciting insight into the future and may prompt some of them to follow a career in this line themselves.

"Children and young people, of course, often get to grips with technology much quicker than adults but our demonstration team has been very well trained and the NOW Van programme really is suitable for all visitors, regardless of their age or level of technical understanding."
